A Natural Waterpark on the Rocks
Technically, this is one of the easiest and most enjoyable canyoning trips in Slovenia.
Take an easy walk (about 20 min.) to the top of the canyon and then get ready for the adventure. Be a child again and enjoy jumping, sliding, and swimming through the crystal clear creek of the canyon! The rocks are completely smooth so you can slide down. Take part in this 3-hour adventure in Susec canyon with our professional guides!
Before the canyoning trip, there is a safety talk which includes your guide explaining how to move on the wet rocks and what is the right position when you jump or slide.
Sušec Canyoning Adventures in Bovec, Slovenia
Natural slides, turquoise pools, hidden waterfalls — and a canyon that feels
like it was carved just for you.
Sušec is the perfect first canyoning adventure in the Soča Valley. No experience, no technical skills, no big ego
required — just a swimsuit, a bit of courage, and a willingness to get properly wet.
Hidden above Bovec in the Julian Alps, Sušec Canyon is famous for smooth natural slides, clear pools, small
optional jumps, and waterfalls that make the whole place feel like nature built its own water park. It is
exciting enough to make you laugh out loud, but friendly enough for beginners, families, and anyone trying
canyoning for the first time.
With Fröccs Rafting Club, you get certified local guides, quality equipment, clear safety instructions, and a
relaxed atmosphere from start to finish. We handle the serious stuff so you can enjoy the fun part: sliding,
jumping, splashing, and wondering why you did not book this sooner.
Why Try Canyoning in Bovec?
Bovec is Slovenia’s undisputed adventure capital — and the reason is simple: nowhere else in Europe packs this
much raw natural beauty into one valley. Framed by the peaks of the Julian Alps and threaded by the dazzling
turquoise Soča River, the landscape around Bovec hides a network of alpine canyons that most travellers never
see, unless they’re willing to get wet.
Canyoning in Bovec takes you places a hiking trail never could. Squeeze through slot canyons polished smooth by
centuries of rushing water. Stand beneath waterfalls that thunder down mossy cliff faces. Float through
crystal-clear pools that shimmer between canyon walls. This isn’t just exercise — it’s discovery.
The Soča Valley’s limestone geology, carved by glacial meltwater over millennia, forms natural chutes, slides,
and plunge pools at every turn. The best adventure playgrounds aren’t built — they’re grown.
What Makes Sušec Canyon Special?
Sušec is the canyon we recommend when you want real adventure without needing superhero skills. Of all the
canyoning routes in the region, this one earns its reputation as a true beginner’s paradise — but that doesn’t
mean it lacks magic.
Think of Sušec as nature’s own water park: smooth rock slides that send you gliding into deep pools, optional
jumps that let you test your courage at a comfortable level, and swimming sections through pools so clear and
still they look painted. There’s enough excitement to get your heart racing, but the canyon never throws
anything at you that feels overwhelming. Everyone finishes with a grin and an immediate urge to go again.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need previous canyoning experience?
Not at all. Sušec is specifically chosen for first-timers because it requires zero prior experience. Your certified
guide covers every technique you need in the safety briefing before you enter. Thousands of complete beginners have
tackled Sušec with us — and most ask to go again the same day.
Is Sušec Canyon suitable for beginners?
Sušec is the go-to beginner canyon in the entire Soča Valley. The slides are smooth and gentle, the jumps are modest
and optional, and the pools are deep but calm. If you can walk, swim a little, and follow your guide’s instructions,
you’re more than qualified.
Can children participate?
Yes — children from age 6 upwards can join. The canyon is family-friendly by design, and kids typically love it even
more than adults. Our guides are experienced with mixed-age groups and know how to keep younger guests engaged,
confident, and safe throughout.
Do I need to know how to swim?
Basic comfort in water is recommended — you don’t need to be a strong swimmer. The pools are calm, your wetsuit
provides natural buoyancy, and your guide will always be nearby during swimming sections. If you have concerns, let
us know when booking and we’ll make sure you get extra support.
What should I bring?
A swimsuit to wear under your wetsuit, a towel, a change of clothes, and sunscreen. Leave valuables at base or in
your car. If you bring a phone, it must be in a proper waterproof case and is at your own risk.
Is equipment included?
Yes — wetsuit, neoprene shoes, helmet, and all safety gear are included and professionally maintained. You don’t
need to bring any technical gear.
How long does the trip last?
Approximately 3 to 4 hours from check-in to return. This includes gear fitting, the safety briefing, the hike in,
the canyon descent (typically 1.5 to 2 hours inside), and the return transfer to base.
Are jumps mandatory?
No. Every jump is optional, and your guide will always offer an alternative. That said, most guests who arrive
nervous about the jumps end up doing every single one — and asking for more.
What happens during bad weather?
Your safety is always the priority. In the event of conditions that make the descent unsafe, we’ll contact you in
advance to reschedule or offer a full refund. Light rain doesn’t typically affect the experience — you’re going to
be wet anyway. Our guides monitor conditions closely and never operate when safety is in question.
Is transportation included?
Return transport from the canyon exit back to our base in Bovec is included. For getting to our base, we recommend
your own vehicle or arranging transport to Bovec. If you need help with directions or logistics, our team is happy
to assist.
